We’ve been working on something for a while now, and we’re finally ready to talk about it. If you’re an Energy Advisor with Think+, you already know that our job isn’t just to find customers a better rate—it’s to find them a better energy solution. Sometimes that means a smarter plan. Sometimes it means a new product. And every once in a while, it means introducing something that genuinely changes the conversation. This is one of those moments.
We’re thrilled to introduce our newest product partner: Energywell. And we’re even more excited to share that Energywell’s home battery backup program is now available exclusively to AutoSave and Think Energy customers in Illinois.
What Is the Energywell Battery Program?
At its core, it’s simple: Energywell installs a whole-home battery backup system in a customer’s home—at no upfront cost and with no monthly equipment fee—and connects them to a variable time-of-use (TOU) energy rate plan that guarantees 15% savings below ComEd’s Price to Compare during on-peak hours, and 20% savings during off-peak hours (11 p.m. to 5 a.m.).
The hardware is the EcoFlow OCEAN Pro, a battery system that TIME Magazine named one of its Best Inventions of 2025. An equivalent system, purchased and installed independently, would run a homeowner more than $18,000. Through this program, they get it for $0 with no cost for installation or equipment.
Here’s how the program works.
Your customer enrolls in Energywell and switches to their guaranteed savings energy rate plan. Their home battery gets installed by a local certified technician, and they take care of permits, setups, and everything else. When the grid goes down, the battery kicks in automatically—usually so fast that the homeowner won’t even notice the interruption.
That last part tends to land well.
There’s nothing for them to manage, and nothing for them to fuss over. Guaranteed savings against ComEd’s PTC, whole-home battery backup, and a place in Energywell’s Connected Energy Community.
Why We’re Excited to Bring This to Illinois
We’re constantly evaluating new energy solutions for our network. We’re picky about what we put in front of our EAs and even pickier about what we put in front of customers. When we started conversations about offering the Energywell battery product, a few things stood out immediately.
First, the product is genuinely differentiated. This isn’t another commodity electricity plan dressed up with a loyalty reward. It’s a whole-home energy solution that delivers real, tangible value—backup power, guaranteed savings, and zero installation cost—in a single, integrated offer.
Second, the model is honest. The reason Energywell can offer a battery system at no cost is straightforward: your home’s battery participates in what Energywell calls a Connected Energy Community—a network of home batteries that can collectively support grid resilience during periods of high demand. That participation creates value, and Energywell passes it along to the customer in the form of preferred rates and free installation. It’s a smart idea, and it’s one that’s easy to explain.
Third, and maybe most importantly for our EAs: this offer is easy to share. It’s not complicated. It’s not a hard sell. When you’re connecting with an AutoSave or Think Energy customer who owns their home and doesn’t have solar, the conversation practically runs itself. You’re not pitching them a product—you’re introducing them to a smarter way to power their home.
The Offer at a Glance
Here’s what an eligible customer gets when they enroll through Think+:
Guaranteed savings against ComEd’s Price to Compare, with 15% savings below ComEd’s Price to Compare during on-peak hours, and 20% savings during off-peak hours. The initial term of this agreement locks in those discounts for five years, but what’s even better is that the customer is protected by Energywell’s Lowest Rate Guarantee at every renewal for the full 15-year term of the battery services agreement. With this guarantee, the customer’s rate will always be below ComEd’s PTC and Energywell will match or beat the lowest comparable rate available at renewal— or the customer can walk away, penalty-free. They also get a place in the Connected Energy Community, contributing to a more resilient grid across Illinois.
There’s a $99 refundable deposit at enrollment to kick off the permitting and site survey process—it comes back after the customer’s first bill is paid, or in full if they change their mind before permits are submitted. Other than that, they only pay for the energy they use every month. And at launch, for a limited time, the deposit is waived, making it even easier for a customer to say yes.
A Quick Note on Eligibility
While we want to service as many customers as possible in ComEd, the product requires a home and customer that’s a good fit for the battery installation. The program is designed for homeowners—renters aren’t eligible. The home must be homeowner occupied, single-family home (no apartments, town homes, condos or manufactured homes). Homes with an existing solar installation, fully integrated whole-home generator, or battery backup system won’t qualify either, at least for now. Beyond that, a brief Virtual Site Survey will confirm whether a home is a good fit for installation.
The good news is that for most homeowners in your AutoSave and Think Energy customer base, those boxes are easy to check. You don’t need to overthink the qualification conversation—just introduce the offer naturally and let the product do its job.
Fast action means early access
We want to be honest with you: we’re anticipating high volumes of interest for this product in Illinois and customers who act quickly will be able to be in earlier phases of installations. That’s part of what makes this a compelling conversation to have right now. This isn’t a product that will sit on a shelf waiting for someone to ask about it. The customers who move early will be the ones who get access as we start to plan permitting and installation schedules.
Think of this the way you think about any market launch—the story you’re telling isn’t just “here’s a great product.” It’s “here’s a great product, and your neighbors are going to start hearing about this soon.” Real urgency. Real value.
This Is Why Think Plus Exists
We’re not in the business of pointing customers toward the first available option. We’re in the business of finding the best products in the market, vetting them against what our customers actually need, and making those connections in a way that’s transparent and trustworthy.
Energywell is the latest example of that. We believe in what they’ve built, we believe in what it does for homeowners, and we believe it’s a genuinely easy, natural conversation for our EAs to have.
So go have it.
If you’re a Think+ EA and you want to learn more about how to introduce this to your customers, stay plugged in to the newsletter, battery events and trainings, and help your customers get enrolled for AutoSave firsts. That’s their early access to a battery invitation. This is the kind of offer that’s easy to get excited about.
